Created in 1994, our award-winning Kelora StepSearch™ technology was the first faceted search technology available.

StepSearch was first implemented a year later by AMP Incorporated, the world’s largest connector manufacturer (now part of Tyco Electronics) to allow users to perform faceted browsing of the first web catalog.

In 1998, the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office issued the first in a series of four StepSearch patents based on the initial 1994 application.

Over the past two decades, StepSearch has become the industry norm for companies who want their users to be able to quickly and easily narrow search results.

The StepSearch patent is U.S. Patent Number 6,275,821, entitled “Method and System for Executing a Guided Parametric Search.”
